Louise Huggett Psychologist

ABOUT ME

After graduating from the University of Wollongong with a BSc in Psychology in 1999 and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Psychology in 2000, I committed to promoting principles of whole-being, mind-body health through my own personal practise and in the lives of my clients.

I commenced my career as a Psychologist with the Greater Murray Area Health Service, employed as a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Worker. This experience in rural NSW gave me a rich insight into the nuanced experiences and needs of families and individuals. I broadened my experience, venturing into Adolescent and Family Counselling, Occupational Rehabilitation, Headspace, and finding my fit in Private Practice, running practices in Sydney, Wollongong, Canberra, and now Sunshine Coast, Qld.

Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and Medicare, I’m also a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPi) and the Australian Association of Buddhist Counselors and Psychotherapists (AABCAP).

I consult via Telehealth and In-Person (Sunshine Coast, Qld), working to make therapy accessible for individuals across Australia, motivated by my lived experience of the limitations to the availability of counselling services across regional and rural Australia, and a drive to make therapy accessible, wherever you are.

I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, body image, perimenopause, and issues adjusting to health diagnoses . I explore the nuanced relationship between the body and mind with a particular interest in women’s health.

As an ADHDer, diagnosed later in life, I am keenly aware of the uniqueness of each individual and the lived experience of the person in front of me informs my practice.

Therapy with me is trauma informed, neurodiversity affirming, and founded in a deep belief in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship.
